Pickaway County — A morning jogger’s routine run took a bizarre turn Friday morning, leading to the arrest of an Avon, Ohio man on multiple charges after he was discovered naked on top of a vehicle at a local state park.
According to early reports from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was placed around 7:30 a.m. when a jogger encountered an unexpected sight near the dam side of AW Marion State Park: a completely unclothed man lying on top of a car, allegedly engaging in a sexual act with himself.
Pickaway County Sheriff’s deputies and state park officials responded to the scene, where they located and detained 22-year-old Jeremiah Burkes of Avon.
Upon further investigation, authorities discovered that the vehicle Burkes was using as a platform did not belong to him. The car’s registered owner is a resident of Canal Winchester, though Burkes was reportedly at the park alone.
A background check conducted by the sheriff’s department revealed that Burkes was driving with a suspended license. Furthermore, he was found to have an active local pickup warrant for prior offenses involving falsification and weapons charges.
Burkes was taken into custody and officially charged with public indecency. He was initially transported and booked into the Pickaway County Jail. While records show he has since posted bail, Burkes is scheduled to return to Pickaway County in the future to face the new charges in court.
