Arrest Made in South Columbus Shooting, After Suspects Flee on Electric Bicycles

COLUMBUS, Ohio (February 26, 2024) – Columbus Police have arrested two individuals in connection with a shooting that occurred last week at a COTA bus stop on East Whittier Street.

Incident:

On February 21st, at approximately 11:52 AM, officers responded to reports of a shooting at the bus stop. Upon arrival, they found a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and rendered aid before transporting them to a local hospital in critical condition.

Investigation:

Following the incident, police determined that a verbal altercation between two individuals escalated to gunfire. With the help of community tips, investigators were able to identify and arrest the suspects.

Arrests:

  • Shawn M. Higgs: Charged with Felonious Assault.
  • Elizabeth M. Ferrell: Charged with Tampering with Evidence.

Both individuals were arrested on February 23rd, 2024.
