Chillicothe & Ross County — The mission of the Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau is “the growth and prosperity of area economic development through tourism.” (As a tour guide, presenter, and reporter, I am very familiar with that mission.)

A few years ago they started the annual “Pineapple Awards” where the CVB showcases the “best of the best” in local tourism, as represented by a traditional symbol of hospitality – the pineapple. The winners are presented in the annual Tourism Banquet in May, which is national Tourism Month.

They are seeking nominations for Volunteer of the Year, Front Line Associate of the Year, Behind the Scenes Associate of the Year, and Manager of the Year. Anyone can nominate anyone until March 15th, whether it’s a peer, supervisor, volunteer, or each other.

Find the nomination form on their website – along with the list of previous recipients which include such institutions as Hopewell Culture National Historical Park, the Scioto Society and Tecumseh Outdoor Drama, Adena Mansion & Gardens, Chillicothe Tree Commission, Dan & Mike in the Morning, Downtown Chillicothe Inc., and various hotels, restaurants, events, and other museums.

Members of the local tourism industry come together in the annual Tourism Banquet & Pineapple Awards that will be held on Monday, May 6th, 2024.

You can submit nominations to the CVB Director Melody Young ([email protected]) or Communication Assistant Gene Betts ([email protected]), or you can mail to / drop off at their address at 230 North Plaza Boulevard, off Bridge Street just north of US 35 in Chillicothe.
