FAIRFIELD COUNTY, OH (May 6, 2024) – The Amanda-Clearcreek Local School District is proudly ushering in a new era of eco-friendly transportation with the introduction of two new electric school buses, made possible through funding from the EPA Clean School Bus Rebate Program.
The district will host a celebratory event on Monday, May 6th, at 9:00 am, inviting the community to join in commemorating this significant milestone.
Selected by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to receive $790,000 in funding as part of the 2022 clean school bus rebates, the Amanda-Clearcreek School District has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The introduction of these electric buses marks a significant step forward in reducing emissions and improving air quality in the local community. The buses are expected to deliver substantial savings in fuel costs and maintenance expenses, contributing to the district’s long-term financial sustainability.
According to a spokesperson for the district, bus drivers are currently undergoing specialized training to operate the electric buses safely and efficiently. The vehicles are scheduled to commence service in the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, providing students with a cleaner and greener mode of transportation.
The EPA Clean School Bus Rebate Program, which has funded over 2,300 electric buses nationwide, aims to promote the adoption of environmentally friendly transportation solutions in school districts across the country. Ohio, with 15 electric buses funded so far, is among the states benefiting from this initiative, paving the way for a cleaner and healthier future for generations to come.
