Carrollton, Ohio – Summer break offers students a welcome respite from school, and this year, members of the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter took full advantage by attending the Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum from July 8 to 12. Often dubbed “The Happiest Place on Dirt,” the camp lived up to its reputation with a week of enriching activities and leadership development.
Located in Carrollton, Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum is renowned for its diverse range of outdoor activities, from canoeing and kayaking to kickball, volleyball, and basketball. Additionally, campers had the opportunity to test their skills at the archery and gun ranges.
Riley Strickler, a first-time attendee from the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter, described the camp experience as transformative. “On the first day, I was nervous because I didn’t know anyone there. However, the evening dance allowed me to meet other FFA members from across the state, and I quickly realized I was forming friendships that would last a lifetime,” Strickler said.
The camp experience goes beyond fun and games. Each day, members participated in leadership workshops conducted by Ohio FFA State Officers. These sessions focused on essential leadership skills, such as positively influencing others and making a meaningful impact in their communities.
“The workshops were such an eye-opening experience,” said Samantha Buckley, another A-C FFA member. “They made me realize that it only takes a few motivated people to make a significant impact.”
Amanda-Clearcreek FFA members returned from camp with not only fond memories and new friends but also a renewed commitment to leadership and community service. The chapter is already looking forward to next summer’s camp, eager to embrace the opportunities and challenges that await.
As the members reflect on their week at Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum, they are grateful for the valuable experiences and connections made. The enthusiasm for next year’s camp is palpable, promising another round of memorable adventures and growth.
