CHILLICOTHE, OH — In a move timed perfectly with global environmental celebrations, Ross County officials gathered on Wednesday to officially cut the ribbon on the new Ross County Recycling Center.
The grand opening, held on Earth Day, marks a major expansion of the county’s commitment to sustainability and modern waste management.

Expanding Local Access
Located at 990 Eastern Avenue in Chillicothe, the new facility is designed to provide residents with streamlined, high-capacity access to recycling services. Local leaders noted that the center is a direct response to the community’s growing demand for responsible disposal options.
“This project is an investment in our future,” officials stated during the ceremony. “It’s a fitting reminder of the importance of sustainability and responsible waste management in our community.”
A Collaborative Investment
The project was made possible through a multi-agency partnership aimed at reducing the county’s carbon footprint. Key partners included:
- The Ross-Pickaway-Highland-Fayette (RPHF) Solid Waste District
- Rumpke Waste & Recycling
- The Ross County Board of Commissioners
Commissioner Jack Everson, who attended the ribbon-cutting, emphasized that the facility is part of a broader vision for a “cleaner Ross County.”
Open for Resident Use
The Eastern Avenue site is now fully operational, offering a centralized hub for residents to drop off recyclable materials. By consolidating these services, the county hopes to divert a significant amount of waste from local landfills.
The opening follows a string of positive developments for the region’s infrastructure. “Good things are happening in Ross County,” local representatives noted, “and we’re excited to see what’s ahead.”
