WALNUT TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A Columbus motorcyclist was hospitalized Friday evening after a car failed to yield at a Pickaway County intersection and pulled into her path on U.S. Route 23, state troopers said.
The crash occurred around 6:10 p.m. on Oct. 23, 2026, at the intersection of U.S. 23 and County Road 508 (Little Walnut Road) in Walnut Township.
According to an Ohio State Highway Patrol report, Miguel Angel Diaz Castaneda, 38, of Lockbourne, was driving a 2013 Honda Civic westbound on Little Walnut Road with three passengers in his vehicle, including two young children. As Diaz Castaneda attempted to cross the northbound lanes of U.S. 23, he failed to yield at the stop sign and drove into the intersection.
A northbound 2017 Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob motorcycle, operated by 36-year-old Amanda Sue Wisenbarger of Columbus, was unable to avoid the Honda and struck the side of the vehicle.
Wisenbarger suffered suspected serious injuries in the collision and was transported by Harrison Township EMS to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Diaz Castaneda and his three passengers—Wilma Diaz-Hatfield, 32; Caden Diaz-Hatfield, 9; and Erick Diaz-Hatfield, 4—were uninjured in the crash.
Troopers cited Diaz Castaneda for failure to yield the right-of-way at a through highway.
Northbound lanes of U.S. 23 were closed for approximately 40 minutes while law enforcement investigated the scene and cleared the wreckage.
