PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — A high-speed pursuit through Pickaway County ended Sunday afternoon with two juvenile suspects in custody after they allegedly crashed a vehicle into a farm field and attempted to flee on foot.
According to initial reports from law enforcement, the incident began around 4:00 p.m. when a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert was issued for a gray Hyundai Sonata that was reportedly being driven recklessly along U.S. Route 23 in the south Bloomfield area heading southbound.
At approximately 4:15 p.m., a Pickaway County Law Enforcement unit located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated away, leading deputies on a pursuit that reportedly reached speeds of 100 mph while traveling southbound on North Court Street.
The chase continued through several roadways, including Walnut Creek Pike and Dunkle Road, before the suspects drove toward the intersection of State Route 188 and Winchester Road. There, authorities say the vehicle left the roadway and entered a bean field, where it became disabled.
Two white male juveniles then fled the scene on foot, prompting a foot pursuit across nearby farmland. An investigating deputy caught up with the suspects in Griffy Run, where both were taken into custody at gunpoint without further incident.
Law enforcement officers at the scene reported the vehicle’s ignition column appeared to have been broken, leading investigators to believe the car may have been stolen. A firearm was also reportedly recovered from inside the vehicle.
Authorities additionally indicated they located possible evidence linking the suspects to other vehicle-related crimes in the area, though no additional details have been released.
Both juveniles were being evaluated for injuries following the crash before being transported for detention. Charges are expected, but have not yet been officially announced.
