PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — Construction of critical utility infrastructure for Anduril Industries’ massive Arsenal-1 manufacturing campus has reached a major milestone, with natural gas now available to the site and the company’s first building scheduled to come online on Aug. 1.
Knox Energy Cooperative Association announced that its new 12-inch high-density polyethylene (HDPE) natural gas distribution pipeline was successfully commissioned and placed into service on June 18, 2026, ahead of schedule. The pipeline will provide natural gas service to Anduril Building One as well as future industrial development within the project area.
The completion clears the way for Anduril Building One to be activated on Aug. 1, 2026, marking another step forward for one of Ohio’s largest economic development projects.
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company specializing in autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, advanced surveillance technology, and next-generation defense manufacturing, announced in January 2025 that it had selected the Columbus region for Arsenal-1, its first hyperscale manufacturing facility.
The nearly $1 billion investment is expected to create more than 4,000 direct jobs, making it one of the largest economic development projects in Ohio’s history.
In June 2025, the Pickaway County Port Authority selected Utility Pipeline, Ltd. and Knox Energy Cooperative Association to design, build, own, and operate the natural gas infrastructure serving the Arsenal-1 campus.
According to Knox Energy, the project was completed ahead of its contractual June 23, 2026 deadline. Construction included nearly 46,000 feet of 12-inch HDPE pipeline, 706 feet of 10-inch steel pipeline beneath a railroad crossing, and nearly 2,000 feet of 8-inch HDPE pipeline.
Company officials said the completed distribution line not only supports Anduril’s manufacturing campus but also positions Knox Energy to provide natural gas service for future industrial and commercial developments throughout the region.
Knox Energy Cooperative Association, managed by Utility Pipeline, Ltd., currently provides natural gas service to more than 23,000 residential and commercial customers across 38 counties in Ohio and nine counties in Pennsylvania.
The activation of Anduril’s first building marks another significant milestone as construction continues on the expansive Arsenal-1 campus in Pickaway County.
