CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe Police officers responded to a wide range of calls on Thursday, July 23, 2026, ranging from property disputes and local thefts to major felony investigations and the recovery of an out-of-state runaway.

Out-of-State Runaway Found

Early Thursday morning around 5:13 a.m., an off-duty sheriff’s deputy located a 16-year-old walking near the intersection of High Street and Arch Street. Upon further investigation, officers confirmed the juvenile was a reported runaway from Texas. The case remains under active investigation by local authorities.

Major Felony & Vandalism Investigations

  • Joann Fabrics (N. Bridge St.): Officers responded to a vandalism complaint shortly after 2:00 a.m., opening a criminal mischief investigation.
  • Rape Investigation (N. Bridge St. / N. Paint St.): Police responded to an incident involving a juvenile at around 5:04 p.m. Case details remain limited as officers continue their inquiry into a rape offense.

Late-Night Alarm at Chillicothe High School

Just before midnight, officers were dispatched to Chillicothe High School on Yoctangee Parkway following a building alarm. Upon arrival, police initiated an investigation involving alleged minor curfew violations and criminal trespassing.

  • Loitering: Officers dispersed a group loitering at the Zane Plaza shopping center on North Bridge Street late Thursday evening.
