Chillicothe Police Investigate Reported Sexual Assault, Assault, Thefts, and Multiple Disorderly Conduct Complaints

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe Police responded to a wide range of incidents on June 17, including a reported sexual assault involving a child, an assault complaint, multiple theft investigations, warrant arrests, traffic crashes, and several disorderly conduct calls.

One of the most serious incidents occurred shortly after 8:20 a.m. when police received a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a victim under the age of 13. According to the department’s daily media report, a woman contacted police requesting an investigation into the allegation. The case remains under investigation.

Earlier in the morning, officers were dispatched to an area near the Scioto River east of the Bridge Street bridge in response to a reported assault. Police launched an investigation into the incident.

Officers also responded to a domestic dispute on South Mulberry Street around 3:30 a.m., resulting in a disorderly conduct report.

Throughout the day, police served multiple warrants, including incidents on North Paint Street and East Main Street.

Several theft-related investigations were opened during the reporting period. Officers responded to a bicycle theft reported at the Ross County Law Enforcement Complex on South Paint Street. Additional theft complaints were reported on North Bridge Street, including a shoplifting incident and a theft-by-deception investigation. Another theft investigation involved coordination with the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office.

Disorderly conduct complaints kept officers busy throughout the day. Police investigated threats on East Second Street, a disorderly conduct complaint on Dayton Street, a domestic-related disturbance reported at the Law Enforcement Complex, and a fight reported on Dayton Street later in the afternoon. Another disorderly conduct and criminal trespass complaint was investigated on East Eighth Street.

Traffic enforcement and crash investigations also occupied officers during the day. Multiple traffic stops were conducted on North Paint Street for stop sign violations, while crash investigations were handled on Western Avenue, North Bridge Street, and North High Street. Officers also issued a citation on North Bridge Street for operating a vehicle with an invalid license plate.

In total, the Chillicothe Police Department documented 26 incidents during the June 17 reporting period. Several investigations remain ongoing.
