TARLTON, Ohio — Around 5,000 residents are without power today after a Logan Elm school bus veered off the road and struck a utility pole, forcing an emergency closure of a major area roadway.
Emergency crews responded to the crash this afternoon on Tarlton Road. According to initial reports, the school bus was traveling near the 6339 block of Tarlton Road when it went off the right side of the roadway and collided directly with a telephone pole, bringing down utility lines.
First responders confirmed that no children were on board at the time of the collision. The bus driver sustained minor injuries but is expected to be okay. No other injuries have been reported.
Traffic and Power Disruptions
The high-impact crash heavily damaged the utility infrastructure, causing widespread electrical outages across the area. Utility providers are currently on-site working to restore power to the estimated 5,000 affected customers.
Due to downed live wires and debris, officials have completely shut down traffic on Tarlton Road at Kingston Road.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes, as the intersection is expected to remain closed for an extended period while emergency crews remove the bus and utility workers replace the shattered pole.
This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information regarding the cause of the crash becomes available.
