
JACKSON TOWNSHIP, OH — A Sunday afternoon collision at a busy Pickaway County intersection resulted in injuries and a traffic citation following a failure to yield right-of-way.
The crash occurred on March 8, 2026, at approximately 4:47 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 104 and State Route 56. According to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office report, the incident involved a gray 2018 Toyota Tundra and a blue 2023 Kia Rio.
Details of the Collision
Investigating officer Bryan VanGundy reported that both vehicles were approaching the intersection with a green light. The Toyota Tundra, driven by Steven James Krogh, 56, of Stoutsville, was traveling southbound on SR-104. The Kia Rio, driven by Jacob Althouse, 33, of Frankfort, was traveling northbound.
The collision occurred when Krogh attempted to make a left turn toward SR-56, turning directly into the path of the northbound Kia. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.
Injuries and Emergency Response
The crash resulted in injuries to the occupants of the Kia Rio:
- Jacob Althouse (Driver): Sustained suspected minor injuries. He was transported by Williamsport EMS to Berger Hospital.
- Brandie Marcum (Passenger): A 34-year-old female from Chillicothe, she also sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported to Berger Hospital by Williamsport EMS.
The driver of the Toyota, Steven Krogh, and his passenger, 53-year-old Kellie Love of Granville, were evaluated but reported no apparent injuries at the scene.
Charges and Investigation
Following an on-scene investigation that lasted over an hour and a half, Krogh was issued a citation for Failure to Yield Right-of-Way at a Through Highway (ORC 4511.43).
Deputies noted that all occupants in both vehicles were wearing their shoulder and lap belts at the time of the impact, and front/side airbags were deployed in both units. Weather conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident.
