Chillicothe Police Department Responds to Crashes, Arrests and Domestic Incident

Officers with the Chillicothe Police Department handled 18 incidents on February 23, ranging from traffic crashes and warrants to a reported domestic dispute that led to an arrest.

Just after midnight, an officer initiated a traffic stop on a black Chevy sedan on East Main Street in connection with a warrant investigation. Minutes later, police responded to the intersection of Riverside Street and North Sugar Street for a motor vehicle crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

Around 12:52 a.m., officers were dispatched to Belleview Avenue and Brookside Drive for an injury crash involving failure to control and weaving. A citation was issued in that case.

Throughout the morning, officers conducted additional traffic stops on East Water Street and North Bridge Street. A possible trespass complaint was reported at the Law Enforcement Complex on Ohio Avenue, and a found property report was taken on South Hickory Street.

Police were also dispatched to Plyley’s Lane for a report of an unruly juvenile. Near Sherman Park, officers investigated information regarding a man reportedly in a blue Jeep with an active warrant. That investigation is pending.

In the afternoon, officers handled a non-injury crash on South Watt Street and began investigating a protection order violation complaint reported at the Law Enforcement Complex lobby. A vandalism complaint on South Brownell Street also remains under investigation.

On Columbus Street at McArthur Gardens, officers observed two individuals allegedly attempting to access the property through a locked gate. Contact was made with the subjects, and the incident was documented as criminal trespass amid ongoing concerns from property staff about unauthorized entry.

At 7:44 p.m., officers were dispatched to Park Street after a woman reportedly texted 911 indicating she was involved in a domestic dispute. Police arrested one individual on a charge of unlawful restraint.

Later that evening, officers responded to Walmart on River Trace Lane for a reported shoplifting incident. The theft investigation is continuing.

Shortly before 11 p.m., officers were dispatched to Theatre Street in reference to a semi-truck crash involving failure to control. The investigation remains ongoing.

The day concluded with officers making contact with a male subject on Columbus Street who had an active warrant. An arrest was made.

Investigations into several of the incidents are ongoing.
