PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon at the intersection of State Route 56 and Klime-Holderman Road in Salt Creek Township, according to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office. The crash involved a passenger vehicle and a Hocking County EMS ambulance that was actively responding to an emergency call.
Deputies say the crash occurred around 2:38 p.m. on January 19, 2026, when a southbound vehicle on Klime-Holderman Road failed to yield at a stop sign and entered the intersection, striking the westbound ambulance on State Route 56. The impact caused both vehicles to leave the roadway and come to rest in a field at the southwest corner of the intersection.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, identified as 39-year-old Brittney Michelle Tippett of Newark, suffered suspected serious injuries and was transported by AirEvac to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Tippett was cited for failure to yield the right of way at a through highway.

The ambulance, owned by the Hocking County Commissioners Office and operated by Hocking County EMS, was occupied by three people at the time of the crash. Two occupants sustained minor injuries. One patient was transported by Pickaway County EMS to Berger Hospital, while another was taken by EMS to a local hospital. A third occupant was not reported injured.
The Hocking County EMS unit was confirmed to be operating in emergency response mode at the time of the crash.
The roadway was closed for approximately two hours while crews investigated and cleared the scene. The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office said weather and road conditions were clear and dry at the time of the crash.
