
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe police officers responded to a wide range of incidents throughout the city on Wednesday, January 22, including thefts, traffic violations, warrant arrests, a drug-related case, and a non-suspicious death, according to the department’s daily media report.
Police were first dispatched just after midnight to a residence on Belleview Avenue in reference to an animal bite. The incident was classified as non-criminal.
In the early morning hours, officers responded to a reported hit-skip crash on Vine Street. Later that morning, a warrant arrest was made on North Paint Street.
Throughout the day, officers conducted several traffic stops for speeding and traffic violations along South Paint Street, North Bridge Street, East Main Street, West Main Street, and North Paint Street. Additional violations included an obstructed license plate and failure to reinstate a driver’s license.
At approximately 10:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to South Renick Avenue regarding an unruly juvenile. The incident remains under investigation.
Multiple theft-related cases were reported during the afternoon, including two separate incidents at Walmart on River Trace Lane involving theft without consent and shoplifting by deception. Detectives and officers responded, and those investigations are ongoing.
Police also responded to a disorderly complaint at Hopewell Grove on Marietta Road later in the afternoon. That incident was classified as non-criminal but remains under investigation.
More serious calls followed in the early evening. Officers were dispatched to Cedar Street in reference to criminal mischief involving vandalism. A separate case involving trafficking in drugs containing cocaine was reported earlier that evening, though limited details were available in the media report.
At approximately 8:33 p.m., officers assisted emergency medical personnel at a residence on Vine Street for an unconscious individual. The death was later determined to be non-suspicious.
Later in the evening, police responded to a reported theft on Ringwald Street and a disorderly conduct complaint on Jefferson Avenue. A second warrant arrest was also reported just before 11 p.m.
In total, Chillicothe police logged 19 incidents during the January 22 reporting period. Several investigations remain ongoing.
