CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Circleville police officers handled a wide range of calls across the city on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, responding to 36 incidents that included an assault, property damage crashes, threats complaints, and numerous well-being checks.

Officers conducted multiple extra patrols during the overnight hours on Clark Drive, Mace Drive, Springhollow Road, and Wood Lane, all of which were checked and found to be okay. Police also investigated reports of a suspicious vehicle on Pontious Road and a suspicious person along U.S. 23 South, though no reports were taken in either case.

Shortly before 6 a.m., officers responded to a non-injury traffic accident with property damage on Wheeler Avenue, where a report was taken. Later in the morning, police responded to an assault on Dearborn Avenue at approximately 8:19 a.m., resulting in a formal report. Officers later returned to the same area for an officer standby related to that incident.

Several well-being checks were conducted throughout the day on streets including South Court Street, Highland Avenue, Mingo Street, John Street, and Clark Drive. Most individuals were found to be okay, though one check on South Court Street resulted in officers being unable to locate the individual.

Police also responded to multiple threats and harassment complaints, including a report taken on Barry Drive late in the morning and another call on Highland Avenue later in the afternoon where no report was filed.

Additional calls included alarms, noise complaints, parking issues, civil process service, and a 911 hang-up that was determined to be non-emergency. Officers issued a citation following a traffic stop on South Court Street in the evening.

Late in the night, police assisted with a vehicle lockout on East Franklin Street, successfully opening the vehicle after a waiver was signed.

Some incidents, including a fire call on State Route 56 East and a suspicious person call on Yorkshire Court, were handled by other agencies.
