CIRCLEVILLE, OHIO — Victoria Holbrook, a junior at New Hope Christian Academy, is one of the school’s representatives in this year’s Miss Pumpkin Show contest. For Holbrook, the Circleville Pumpkin Show has always been about family, community, and creating lifelong memories.

“Pumpkin Show has always been an opportunity to spend time with family and friends,” she said. “The break from school, combined with the festivities in town, has always been something to look forward to. It has also shaped my appreciation for art, thanks to all the incredible artwork on display throughout the week.”

Holbrook describes the Pumpkin Show as a celebration that brings the whole town together. “It’s a week full of food, events, and activities that strengthen relationships with friends, family, and the community as a whole. Walking the streets, you see people enjoying themselves and having a wonderful time.”

Her favorite tradition is a family breakfast before the crowds arrive. “Getting pancakes from Kiwanis in the morning is something my family has always done. We sit on the bleachers or curb, laughing and talking together. The pumpkin pancakes are great fuel for a whole day at Pumpkin Show!”

Outside of Pumpkin Show, Holbrook takes pride in personal accomplishments that reflect her values. She was recently selected to participate in an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., a program that allows volunteers to accompany veterans who served in U.S. wars. “Being chosen for this reflects my love for people and my desire to honor those who have served our nation,” she said.

Holbrook cites her mother and sister as her biggest inspirations. “They’ve taught me to be independent and confident, yet still loving toward others,” she said.

When it comes to pumpkin-flavored treats, Holbrook has a sweet spot. “I love either the pumpkin doughnuts from Lindsays or the pumpkin pancakes from Kiwanis — and that’s funny because I’m not usually a huge doughnut or pancake fan!”

Some of her most cherished Pumpkin Show memories are spent with family. “The most memorable experience would be spending time with my grandma, who lives out of state. She comes for the week, and I love showing her around Circleville, introducing her to my friends, and hearing stories from her childhood. Pumpkin Show makes that possible.”

Looking ahead, Holbrook hopes to bring her energy and community spirit to the title of Miss Pumpkin Show. “I want to be Miss Pumpkin Show because I admire past titleholders,” she said. “Winning would give me the chance to meet new people, step outside my comfort zone, and prove to myself that I am capable of succeeding.”

Her advice to younger girls with dreams of running for Miss Pumpkin Show? “Live in the moment and be patient. Your time will come faster than you expect. When it does, be yourself, be confident, and enjoy every opportunity to connect with your community.”

Victoria will compete alongside other candidates for the 2025 Miss Pumpkin Show crown, taking part in the Wednesday Night Parade on October 15 before competing for Queen at Pumpkin Show Park.
