CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Representing Zane Trace High School, Kaley Shoemaker is among this year’s candidates for Miss Pumpkin Show 2025. For her, the Pumpkin Show is more than just a fall event — it’s a tradition woven into her childhood and family memories.
What does the Pumpkin Show mean to you personally, and how has it shaped your life?
“Ever since I was a little girl, the Pumpkin Show has meant so much to me because it’s where some of my best memories were made,” Shoemaker said. “Growing up with it every year taught me the importance of tradition, and it’s given me a strong sense of pride in where I come from. I always admired and looked up to the ladies who ran for Miss Pumpkin Show, and it inspired me to hope that one day I could be in their place.”
If you were describing the Pumpkin Show to someone who’s never been, what would you say?
“I would say it’s something you can look forward to every year. I think about all the yummy pumpkin-flavored treats, the music, the laughter, and most importantly, the memories that are made each year.”

What’s your favorite Pumpkin Show tradition, and why?
“One of my favorite traditions has always been watching the Ohio State band play at the Parade of Bands on Thursday night. I absolutely love football, and it’s something I look forward to every year.”
What personal accomplishment are you most proud of?
“My biggest accomplishment would have to be my mental health and growth over the past two years. Experiencing high school is difficult, but I’ve learned to respond to negative actions in a positive way.”
Who inspires you most, and what lesson have you learned from them?
“My great-grandmother inspires me the most. She passed away this past April, and I miss her dearly. She was the kindest woman ever, with so much love in her heart. I hope one day I can be as amazing as she was. She also taught me many responsibilities that will stay with me for a lifetime.”
What’s your favorite pumpkin-flavored treat at the show?
“Pumpkin donuts from Lindsay’s Bakery!”
What’s your most memorable Pumpkin Show experience?
“Every year since I was little, I’ve looked forward to collecting the pumpkin of the year at the Jack Pine booth. I have so many favorites!”
Why do you want to be Miss Pumpkin Show, and what would it mean to you to win?
“If I won, it would mean so much more than just a title or a crown. It would be an honor to represent my community and its traditions. It would be a dream come true to inspire younger girls the same way past queens inspired me.”
What advice would you give to younger girls who dream of running for Miss Pumpkin Show someday?
“I would tell them that Miss Pumpkin Show is about kindness, confidence, and representing your community with pride. Be genuine, work hard, and encourage others to chase their dreams.”
