UPDATE – Single-Vehicle Crash into Utility Pole Shuts off Power in Harrison Township

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio – July 7, 2025

A single-vehicle crash occurred in Harrison Township on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at approximately 7:21 p.m., according to a report from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office. The incident, which took place on a township route near 3890 Duvall Rd, involved a Hyundai Elantra striking a utility pole, resulting in property damage only.

Deputy Vanessa Emler responded to the scene, arriving at 7:26 p.m., and found the driver safely outside the vehicle, appearing unharmed despite the airbag deployment and significant frontal damage. The driver admitted to being distracted by using a phone for GPS navigation, which caused the vehicle to veer off the right side of the roadway and collide with the pole and a utility box.

The driver, Souleimane Camera 27, male was cited for the crash.

Due to the damage to the utility infrastructure, South Central Power Company and Spectrum were notified. The driver received a citation for operating a vehicle without reasonable control and was advised accordingly. The damaged vehicle was towed from the scene by Fletcher’s Towing Co.

Power was shut off to the area for about two hours
