Ashville Celebrates New Queen at 4th of July Festival

ASHVILLE, Ohio — On the evening of July 3, 2025, the Ashville community gathered for the annual 4th of July Festival Pageant, hosted by Dan Ramey Sr. of Litter Media. At 7:00 p.m., a vibrant crowd cheered as nine talented young women competed for the title of Miss Ashville 4th of July.

The nine contestants—Kloey Arnett, Layla Nutter, Leighton Thornton, Carmen Hopper, Sydney McMahon, Ava Matthews, Reese Writsel, Mallory Frabott, and Lyla Stinson—were introduced through their biographies, showcasing their diverse interests and aspirations. Each participant answered a series of questions, highlighting their poise and personality.

The judging panel included Anne Guggisberg, Queens Coordinator and chaperone for the Ohio Swiss Festival in Sugarcreek and a Director and Past-President of the Ohio Festivals & Events Association; Ed Chinn, a committee member of the Jackson Apple Festival and Past-President and Honorary Director of the Ohio Festivals & Events Association; and Melanie Boise, a teacher at Canal Winchester schools and Royalty and Pageant Director for the Miss Canal Winchester Labor Day queens program. Their expertise ensured a fair and thoughtful selection process.

The Queen’s selection process consisted of several round,s including a fish bowl question where the contestants were given a one-word prompt and asked how they showed that word trait like respect, trustworthiness, and courage.

Following deliberation, the judges announced Mallory Frabott as Miss Ashville 4th of July, with Sydney McMahon named 1st Attendant and Layla Nutter as 2nd Attendant.
