JACKSONVILLE, FL — Jacksonville International Airport was shut down on Friday, May 16, 2025, following a significant fire that broke out in the Hourly Garage. The closure, enacted to ensure public safety, remains in effect as emergency crews work to manage the situation.
Due to safety many people waiting for flights at the airport were forced to evacuate the terminal by foot. Several witnesses saw people walking down roadways with luggage.

It will reopen once our first responders and relevant authorities have deemed it safe to do so. I urge everyone to stay informed through official channels and to follow any guidance provided by emergency personnel.”
