Pickaway County lost an important person in the world of Pee Wee sports this week, as the Queen of Pee Wee football, the Matriarch, has passed.

July 4, 1943 — May 13, 2025 Marcella (Marcy) Mae Pairan Passed away on May 13, 2025. Born July 4, 1943, to the parents of Mary Ellen (Strawser) and Russell Fredrick Jones. She was married in August 1962 to Gary L Pairan. She was a graduate of Chillicothe High School. Marcy was preceded in death by her husband Gary and both of her parents. She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Smolak, her son Russell (Sue) Pairan, and former-son-in-law Michael Smolak. Her beloved grandchildren, Sierra (Kody) Wood, Harley (Kody) Jackson, and Russell (Makayla) Pairan Jr. Her adored and most loved great grandchildren, Logan Thomas and Addison Mae Wood. Her sister Lucille (Harold) Fry. Nephews, Roger (Theresa) Jones, Dale (Jody) Jones, and Brian Fry. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, a special niece Jacque Sue (Jim) Steele and a cousin Herbie (Vickie) Purtee. In addition, she leaves behind an extended “chosen” family of countless others.

Marcy was a retired cook from Brooks-Yates School. She served as the treasurer and was one of the founding members of the Pickaway County Peewee Football board. Marcy was a cornerstone to the program for over 50 years and ensured that any child who wanted to play football or be a cheerleader was never turned away. Her dedication to the youth in the community made her a beloved fixture in the pumpkin show parade, and she has many children who call her mom. More than her passion for the football program was her fierce love and protection of her family. She was the one they could always count on who would go to the ends of the earth and back to let them know she loved them and would always be there. She was able to witness the marriage of all three grandchildren and welcome two great-grandchildren. Marcy never met a stranger and had a wonderful sense of humor.

She will be loved and missed by many. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Online condolences can be made to www.wellmanfuneralhomes.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pickaway County Pee Wee Football & Cheerleading Association, 119 N. Washington St. Circleville, Oh 43113
