Chillicothe — The “Captured” Photography Exhibition at the Pump House Center for the Arts had its opening night on Thursday, May 1st.
Watch my video to hear the list of winners, upcoming events for the Pump House, and see a quick scan of the photos (but come in to see them better). An additional painting show is upstairs. Lynn Carden, who had a solo show in November of 2023, sponsored the show.
I also interviewed two of the winners. Michael Mankin says he took 60 to 70 photos of the same flower to get his second Place “Carnival de Rio Tulip.” Mankin will have his own solo show at the Pump House later this year.
And, Rio Grande University senior Willliam Conley explained his third place “Four Point Jump.” He said he helped a driver stuck in last year’s Forest Rally in Ross County, so he was given a press pass to a Michigan forest rally, where he took this photo.

Conley said this photo is from a burst of 30 to 50 photos – and he took about 10,000 photos total, with about 700 of them usable. The 2-D Design major plans to do become a professional photographer after he graduates.
The show runs through the end of the month. The Pump House Center for the Arts is closed Mondays, but open most other days at least 11 to 4. Learn more on their Facebook page and website.
