HOCKING – The following is a list of significant reports from the Hocking county Sheriffs office

Hocking County Sheriff Lanny E. North reports:

February 6, 2022

Deputies responded to Ilesboro Road to a report of a vehicle crash. It was reported that a vehicle crashed into the Washington Township Building. Damage was observed on the building and the vehicle. Both parties were advised a report would be on file and to have their insurance companies contact the Sheriff’s Office for a copy.

February 6, 2022

Deputies responded to Main Street in Murray City on a report of criminal trespass. It was reported that a male subject was in the yard of the complainant. It was discovered the male subject may have been experiencing mental health issues. He was transported to Hocking Valley Community Hospital for treatment.

February 6, 2022

Deputies responded to Buena Vista Road to a report of a natural death. It was reported a male subject suffered from medical issues and passed away from natural causes.

February 6, 2022

Deputies assigned to the Village of Laurelville responded to a report of a suspect vehicle involved in a possible theft in the City of Logan. It was reported the suspect vehicle was headed to the Village. Deputies located the suspect vehicle and attempted to perform a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop and a short pursuit ensued. The vehicle stopped inside Pickaway County. After checking the suspect vehicle’s registration it was discovered to be stolen. The driver was arrested and placed in Fairfield County Jail and charges were filed with the Hocking County Prosecutors Office.

February 6, 2022

Deputies responded to the intersection of Black Jack Road and Big Pine Road to a report of an abandoned vehicle. Deputies made contact with a female subject who was sitting with the vehicle. The vehicle had no registration and was later towed. The owner of the vehicle was contacted and was discovered that it was stolen. The incident is still under investigation.

February 7, 2022

Deputies performed a traffic stop on US-33 westbound at the roadside rest area. It was discovered the driver was suspended. A probable cause search was performed by K-9 Dax. After indicating the presence of narcotics the vehicle was searched. Several narcotic items and narcotics were located inside. Evidence was collected and sent off to the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation. The driver was issued citations and released on her own recognizance. Charges are filed with the Hocking County Prosecutors Office.

February 7, 2022

A victim came into the Sheriff’s Office to report an incident of theft. It was reported that someone had stolen the victim’s checkbook and wrote at least five (5) checks where her signature was forged. Evidence was collected and the incident is under investigation.

February 7, 2022

Deputies responded to Lutz Road to a report of an unknown nature. Deputies discovered the incident was a civil matter and performed a standby until one of the subjects involved gathered their belongings and left.

February 8, 2022

Deputies responded to Harvey Chapel Road to a report of theft. It was reported that someone stole items from a vehicle that was parked at a pull-off at the intersection of State Route 668 and State Route 93. The victim stated several items including tools were stolen. The incident is still under investigation.

February 8, 2022

Deputies responded to State Route 66N to a report of a disturbance. It was reported that an adult male subject was damaging items in his mother’s residence. Deputies located the male subject walking along the roadway while en route. Deputies transported the male subject back to his residence so they could speak to his mother. After Deputies spoke to both parties, the male subject was later transported to a friend’s residence.

February 8, 2022

Deputies responded to Stewart Road to a report of identity theft. It was reported that her identity was used to access her bank account. Evidence was collected and the incident is still under investigation.February 8, 2022Deputies responded to Old McArthur Road to a report of a subject in a mental health crisis. Deputies made contact with a female subject and after speaking with her they transported her to Hocking Valley Community Hospital for treatment.

February 9, 2022

Deputies responded to Hayden Place Apartments to a report of domestic violence. It was reported that a female subject assaulted her mother. The female was arrested and transported to the South Eastern Ohio Regional Jail. Charges were filed with the Hocking Count Prosecutors Office for domestic violence, disrupting public service, and resisting arrest.

February 9, 2022

Deputies responded to California Road to a subject who made suicidal threats. It was reported that the male subject left the residence prior to the deputies arrival. The male was later located in the Village of Laurelville. He was later transported to Hocking Valley Community Hospital for treatment.

February 9, 2022

Deputies responded to Frasure Helber Road to a report of a theft of a motor vehicle. It was reported that a male subject stole his mother’s vehicle. During their investigation, it was discovered that the male subject had threatened his mother. Deputies later arrested the male subject when he was located driving the vehicle. He was arrested and transported to the South Eastern Ohio Regional Jail.

February 9, 2022

Deputies responded to Tick Ridge Road to a report of trespassing. It was reported that two male subjects were on the victim’s property. The victim stated he argued with the two males over them taking some wood that he cut up. The argument turned physical and both parties separated. The incident is still under investigation.

February 10, 2022

Deputies responded to Eagle Drive to a report of domestic violence. It was reported that a male subject assaulted his girlfriend. After getting statements from both parties involved and collecting evidence, the male subject was placed under arrest. He was transported to the South Eastern Ohio Regional Jail.

February 10, 2022

Deputies responded to Darl Road to a report of breaking and entering. It was reported that a business window was damaged. A vehicle was also entered and a few items were stolen from it. Evidence was collected the incident is still under investigation.

February 10, 2022

Deputies responded to Maysville Williams Road to a report of identity fraud. It was reported that someone filed an income tax return in the victim’s name. The victim contacted the State of Ohio Department of Taxation and the Internal Revenue Service about the incident.

February 10, 2022

Deputies responded to Laurel Street to a report of domestic violence. It was reported that a male subject assaulted his wife. The male subject was not present while the Deputies were at the scene. Statements were obtained and evidence was collected. Charges were filed with the Hocking County Prosecutors Office.

February 10, 2022

Deputies responded to Hocking Valley Community Hospital to a report of disorderly conduct. It was reported that a male subject was unhappy with the care his wife was receiving. The male subject was causing a disturbance in the hospital. Deputies spoke to the male subject and hospital staff advised him where his wife was being transferred to.

February 10, 2022

Deputies responded to Claybank Road to a report of an unruly juvenile who was missing. It was reported that a male juvenile ran away after he was caught stealing from his family. The juvenile was entered into the National Crime Information Center as missing.

On February 11, 2022, the juvenile had reported to school. The incident was referred to South-Central Job and Family Services.

February 10, 2022

Deputies responded to Big Pine Road to a report of telecommunications harassment. It was reported that the victim’s ex-boyfriend was harassing her via cellphone. Deputies made contact with the ex-boyfriend. He was advised to not contact the victim anymore.

February 10, 2022

Deputies assigned to the Hocking Valley Community Hospital responded to the Emergency Department in regards to a female subject who was having a mental health crisis. The female received treatment and spoke to a counselor.

February 11, 2022

Deputies responded to State Route 278 to a report of a verbal dispute. It was reported that a male and female were arguing over the children in the residence being too loud. It was discovered that the male subject had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Hocking County Municipal Court.

February 11, 2022

Deputies responded to Keota Road to a report of theft. It was reported that someone stole firewood from the victim’s mother’s residence. Deputies attempted to make contact with a potential suspect. The incident is still under investigation.

February 11, 2022

Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Claybank Road. It was reported that a male and female were with a minivan that was out of gas. During their investigation, Deputies recovered narcotics and stolen property inside the van. The incident is still under investigation.

February 12, 2022

Deputies responded to Krafter Road to a report of an unruly juvenile. It was reported that a male juvenile was not listening to his parents. Deputies spoke to the juvenile and advised him to listen to his parents.

February 12, 2022

Deputies responded to Price Road to a report of a disturbance. It was reported that a female was outside yelling. Deputies made contact with the female subject and her husband. The incident was to be unfounded.
