Circleville Man Arrested for OVI after Passing Out at Traffic Light

Circleville, Ohio – On March 4th, 2024, Circleville Police officers responded to a wellbeing check call for a male reported to be slumped over the wheel of a vehicle at a traffic light on Lancaster Pike left turn lane.

Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle matching the description and observed an unresponsive male driver identified as Timothy Martindal, 55 . For safety reasons, officers secured the vehicle and checked on the individual’s well-being. The male regained consciousness and stated he had fallen asleep.

During the interaction, the male disclosed he was carrying a concealed firearm. Officers took possession of the firearm to ensure safety.

Based on observations of the individual’s behavior and performance on field sobriety tests, officers suspected impairment. The individual refused medical evaluation but was arrested for suspicion of operating a motor vehicle under the influence (OUI) and weapons while intoxicated.

A subsequent search incident to arrest revealed a suspected Methamphetamine. A canine unit also conducted a vehicle search, which yielded no additional contraband.

The individual faces potential charges of OUI, weapons while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance, and weapons under disability. He was transported to the Circleville Police Station for processing and later transferred to Pickaway County Jail.

It is important to note that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
