Kansas City, Kan. (AP) – Early Sunday morning, two men opened fire inside a bar in Kansas City, Kansas, killing 4 people and wounding five others. The shooting is believed to have stemmed from a dispute that took place earlier that night, police said.

Officer Thomas Tomasic, a police spokesman said authorities were searching Sunday for the two gunman involved. The two men apparently had some sort of disagreement with people inside Tequila KC Bar, they left then returned with handguns.

“We think there was something that happened in the bar earlier probably,” Tomasic said. “Unfortunately, they left and decided to take it to another level, came back and started shooting.”

At approximately 1:30a.m., gunfire erupted inside the small bar that held around 40 people, Tomasic said. The gunshot sent people running for nearby exits.

“It’s a pretty small bar, so if you have two guys come in and start shooting, people are just running, running anywhere they can,” Tomasic said.

The 4 men who were killed were Hispanic, but the authorities do not believe the shooting was racially motivated due to witnesses giving the description of the shooters as Hispanic men, which has yet to be confirmed. The shooting happened in a neighborhood with a large Hispanic population as well.

Tomasic reported that police were still investigating exactly what happened. They were reviewing surveillance video and interviewing witnesses.

“Obviously being a bar at 1:30a.m., stories vary a lot,” he said.

Among the dead was one man in his late 50s, another in his mid-30s and two in their mid-20s, police said. Authorities did not immediately release their names.
