UPDATE: Two Vehicle Crash with Semi Becomes Five Vehicle Crash When Man Slams into Ross Patrol Car at Crash

Chillicothe – The Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three vehicle injury crash that occurred on US 35 on April 17, 2020 at approximately 09:00 PM
A 2009 Honda Civic, driven by Skylar Reisinger 19 of Chillicothe, Ohio, was traveling Eastbound on US Route 35 in Ross County, Ohio. Mr. Reisinger’s vehicle hydroplaned and lost control striking a 2007 Peterbuilt that was also traveling Eastbound, that vehicle was driven by Trent Fellure 40 of Gallipolis, Ohio. Mr. Reisinger’s vehicle then crossed
the median striking a 2019 Nissan that was traveling Westbound driven by Derrick Thomas 29 of Dayton, Ohio. Mr. Reisinger and his juvenile passenger claimed minor injuries and were checked at scene by Union TWP EMS, both refused transport. Mr. Thomas and his juvenile passenger claimed no injuries. Mr. Fellure also claimed no injuries.


During the three vehicle crash another crash occured involving a Ross County Sheriff Vehicle at approximately 9:51 P.M during the crash stated above. A Ross County Sheriff Department patrol car was parked in the westbound lanes of US 35 with his emergency lights activated. The Ross County Sheriff’s Office was assisting the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and were directing westbound traffic to the Pleasant Valley Road off-ramp due to a road closure involving the crash.

A 2006 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by Paul Proehl, 27, of Frankfort, Ohio, was traveling westbound on US 35 in Ross County, Ohio. Mr. Proehl failed to maintain assured clear distance and struck the stationary patrol car. There were no injuries reported at the scene. The patrol car was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

Veteran’s Affairs Fire Department and Ross County ODOT assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.

Union TWP EMS, Union Township FD, Ross County ODOT and the Ross County Sheriff’s Office assisted on the scene

Both crashes remains under investigation.
Motorist are reminded to reduce speed and use caution during inclement weather.
