Update: High Speed Chase in Ross Ends in Severe Injury Accident

Chillicothe – On December 20, 2019, approximately 11:33P.M., Mr. Canaan M. Alexander, 21, of Chillicothe, Ohio was fleeing a trooper from the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol northeast on Marietta Road in a red, 1999 Chevrolet Silverado, when he lost control of the vehicle.  The vehicle went left of the centerline, off the left side of the road, and struck an embankment.  The vehicle struck a cluster of trees, went back onto the road, and overturned.  It came to rest, upright, as it struck a traffic sign.  Mr. Alexander was ejected from the vehicle.


Mr. Alexander was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe by Springfield Township EMS with severe injuries.   He was later flown to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center by MedFlight.

A passenger in the vehicle, Mr. Brandon L. Holley, 26, of Chillicothe, Ohio sustained minor injuries and was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center by Harrison Township EMS.


Assisting on scene were the Ross County Sheriff’s Department, Springfield Township Fire & EMS, and Harrison Township EMS.

Impairment is suspected to be a factor in the incident.
