Marvin E. Sharp

Marvin E. Sharp, 78, of Amanda, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017.

He was born Nov. 21, 1938, in Fairfield County, and was the son of the late Alford Vance Sharp and Helen Louise (VanFossen) Sharp, who survives.

Marvin was a life-long farmer in the Amanda area, former Clearcreek Twp. Trustee and member of the Amanda-Clearcreek Board of Education. He was an avid horse lover. Marvin enjoyed everything about Amanda Clearcreek and made a point to attend every sport at the school.

Marvin will be missed greatly by his wife of 50 years, Jackie (Kneece) Sharp; children, Tracy (Patti) Sharp, Robin Sharp-Arnett and Jay (Charity) Sharp, all of Amanda; two grandchildren, Kelsie (Trey) Miller and Maverick Sharp; sisters, Alberta Davis, Linda (Bill) Hartley, Karen (Larry) Hoffman and Terrell (Dave) Edwards; mother-in-law, Pat Bethel of Amanda; brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. He is also survived by a very dear friend, Dale “Stoney” Stoneburner of Amanda.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Sharp.

Cremation has been handled with care by the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda.

A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at the 1977 Gymnasium at Amanda Clearcreek. The family will receive friends from noon until time of service at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established at the Kingston National Bank as the Marvin Sharp Pay to Play Fund to help kids play sports at Amanda Clearcreek who might not otherwise be able to afford it. Donations may be made directly at the bank or at the service.
