Circleville Police Reports

Jan. 20, 2017:

– Officers marked on scene in the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue with probation on a warrant arrest. A report was taken on drug trafficking.

– Information was obtained for a 911 hang-up call that had no identifying information attached to it.

– Officers responded to an activated alarm at Rumpke on Island Road. Officers determined it was an accidental activation by an employee.

– A resident in the 100 block of Lewis Avenue reported her vehicle had been broken into and a book bag was stolen. A report was taken for theft.

– A resident in the 500 block of Mowrer Road reported two suspicious males in a white van at his new neighbor’s residence. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle or subjects.

– A caller advised of a fire alarm in the 1400 block of Lancaster Pike. The alarm company canceled the call.

– A caller reported a vehicle driving recklessly in the 100 block of Lancaster Pike near Kroger. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

– Officers responded to a property damage accident involving a vehicle and a Rumpke truck at East Union and Abernathy.

– A resident in the 100 block of Fairview Blvd. reported her vehicle was broken into and $10 in change was stolen. No report was taken by request.

– A resident in the 200 block of South Scioto Street reported his bicycle was stolen from Kroger. The officer determined it had not been stolen.

– Officers performed a well-being check on a juvenile on West Mound Street. The subject checked OK.

– The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office arrested Joseph Paxton Ferguson on a warrant on Kinderhook Road. The warrant was served by an officer at the county jail.

– Jason McGowan was arrested on several outstanding warrants in the 300 block of the alley at Walnut and Logan.

– The Circleville Middle School principal notified the school resource officer a student was missing. The juvenile was found hiding in the building.

– The property manager at Apple Ridge Apartments advised a large Doberman was running loose behind an apartment, and the tenant was concerned about taking her dogs outside. The dog warden was advised.

– A resident came to the police station to report she believed she was being stalked by a known male subject. She was advised to block harassing parties on her phone and social media.

– A business owner advised he was told subjects in a brown station wagon were stealing scrap metal from behind the building in the 300 block of Kingston Pike. Nothing was found, and the building was secure.

– An employee at Rural King reported they believed a male and female subject stole something from the store. A report was taken on theft.

– A resident in the 600 block of Plaza Drive came to the police station to report someone had used his bank card number for fraudulent charges up to $300. A report was taken on theft.

– The manager of Kroger on Lancaster Pike reported they had two subjects detained for shoplifting. A report was taken. The juveniles were released to their parents, and a summons will be issued.

– A caller at the Launderette on Pontious Lane advised a male subject wearing a dark hoodie and possibly a mask was carrying a flashlight and appeared to be looking into parked vehicles. Officers were unable to locate the subject.

– The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office advised of a 911 hang-up call on East Main Street in which the caller stated her mother just attacked her. Officers determined it was a disagreement between a juvenile and parent. The scene checked OK.

– Officers responded to an activated smoke alarm at Rumpke on Island Road. Nothing was found. The alarm was activated again, and employees of the company advised someone was en route to fix the system.

– A caller in the 200 block of West Mound Street reported an alarm was going off at a garage across the street. Officers were unable to locate an alarm going off.

Jan. 21, 2017:

– A caller at Speedway on Lancaster Pike reported a suspicious male hanging out by the mulch area. Officers advised the juvenile was dropped off at his residence. No report was taken.

– Two callers advised of a male subject lying in the alley in the area of Franklin and Mound streets. Officers advised the scene checked OK, and the subject was picked up by a parent.

– A caller advised the music at Gant’s Pizza had gotten really loud. The business was advised.

– A caller from Kroger on Lancaster Pike reported a drunk male in a white SUV kept going up to the doors of the store while it was closed. An arrest was made.

– A suspicious male was reported going in and out of the Circleville Police Department all night using the bathroom and spending a lot of time in there. Officers advised the subject checked OK.

– A caller reported a disturbance in the 100 block of East Franklin Street. No report was taken.

– A caller advised of a fight or a disturbance outside a residence on Detroiter Avenue. Officers were unable to locate the subjects.

– A 911 caller reported people were hiding in the trees and on the roof in the 300 block of South Scioto Street. A second 911 call advised the subject had left. Someone then called back and said the subjects were back, and this time they had binoculars and were in the alley behind a red truck. Officers were unable to locate anyone in the area.

– A caller reported a suspicious vehicle at the corner of Scioto and Water streets. Officers advised the subject was going to a family member’s house. The scene checked OK.

– The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office advised a juvenile had called 911 a total of 10 times from Barry Drive, but they were unable to obtain detailed information. Officers advised everything checked OK, and the juvenile thought a monster was coming after him.

– A caller from Apple Ridge Apartments advised her home health aid did not show up, and she could not reach anyone. The caller was advised to contact the non-emergency number if she needed to reach the police. The caller advised she would be OK for the time being.

– A caller advised two very nice bicycles were dumped on the property in the 100 block of Fairview Blvd. Officers advised the property had been disposed of in the dumpster. A report was taken on found property.

– A caller from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles on West Main Street reported he found a Verizon phone in front of the BMV. A report was taken on found property.

– Employees of the Circleville Fire Department brought two bicycles to the police station that had been abandoned in front of the fire station for about two months. A report was taken on found property.

– A caller in the 600 block of Clinton Street reported belongings had been stolen from her residence. The property was recovered and returned. No charges were filed.

– A caller in the 300 block of Edwards Road reported their vehicles are repeatedly being broken into. They had filed a report just a day or two before, and they are now requesting extra patrol in the area. Information was obtained for extra patrol due to vehicle vandalism.

– Officers responded to a property damage hit-skip accident in the 100 block of West Ohio Street.

– A caller in the 300 block of Pontious Lane reported someone comes around every night and knocks on her door, possibly a known subject. Extra patrol was requested.

– Officers performed a well-being check on an elderly male the caller believed was being scammed. The subject checked OK but was advised the person he was trying to send money to was a scam.

– Officers responded to an injury accident at Chase Bank in the 100 block of East Main Street.

– A caller reported two suspicious males approaching residences on Atwater Avenue and asking to trim bushes. The caller said the subjects also were looking at newspapers that hadn’t been picked up, then approaching the homes to see if anyone was there. Officers checked both males, who stated they were enjoying the weather. The scene checked OK.

– A caller in the Ohio Heights apartment complex reported a known subject was outside her residence, threatening and harassing her. Both parties were advised to stay away from each other.

– A resident came to the police station to follow up with an officer regarding a theft. Information was obtained.

– A caller on West High Street reported a company hired by the bank from whom they purchased the home had entered their house to winterize it without permission. A report was taken on breaking an entering.

– A caller on Meadow Drive reported they were missing a firearm. A report was taken.

– A caller on Pecan Place reported someone broke into his vehicle overnight. A report was taken on theft.

– A caller in the 1000 block of South Court Street reported a known subject was casing his property, and he believed the subject intended to steal property for scrap. Extra patrol was requested.

– Officers responded to reports of a disabled vehicle on South Court Street at the 23 bypass.

– A caller on Fairview Blvd. reported a vehicle kept driving up and down the street very slowly, and the same incident occurred the previous week. Officers advised the subjects checked OK, and they were just driving around.

– Officers performed a well-being check on a subject on Lincoln Avenue after a neighbor reported he hadn’t been seen for two days. The subject was contacted.

– A caller in the 300 block of East Mound Street reported a large dog on her porch that growled at her every time she went to the door. Messages were left with the on-call dog warden.

– A caller at Speedway on Lancaster Pike reported a female driver almost struck another vehicle in the area, then fell asleep in her truck at Speedway for several minutes before going into the store. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

– A caller on Lancaster Pike reported a female was being pulled down the street in front of Speedway by a male subject, and they cut down an alley just past Nicholas Drive. Officers were unable to locate the subjects.

– Officers responded to reports of a domestic dispute on Detroiter Avenue. The female subject agreed to leave the residence.

– A caller reported a possible impaired driver on Lancaster Pike. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

– A caller on North Washington Street reported a male subject was intoxicated and trying to start an altercation. A report was taken on a domestic dispute, and the male was transported to the Berger emergency room.

– A resident in the 200 block of Meadow Drive reported someone was contacting her, and she did not want contact with the subject. The caller was advised to block the unwanted subject from her phone and social media.

– Two 911 callers reported a fight in the 400 block of Half Avenue. A report was taken on disorderly conduct by fighting, but charges were declined.

– A mutual aid medic from the Circleville Fire Department was requested for a single vehicle accident on St. Paul Road.

– An employee at the Berger Hospital emergency room advised a patient was refusing to leave and claiming they had not done anything for him. The nurse advised they had done everything there was to do. Officers were unable to locate the subject.

– An employee at the Berger Hospital emergency room reported an intoxicated patient was causing problems. A report was taken on disorderly conduct by intoxication, and an arrest was made.

– Officers responded to an activated burglar alarm at the Veterans Home on Faye Avenue. The scene checked OK.

Jan. 22, 2017:

– Officers responded to an activated fire alarm at Rumpke on Island Road. The employees advised the alarm was still malfunctioning from the previous days.

– Officers performed a well-being check on a subject on South Court Street after a caller reported she was unable to reach him. The subject checked OK.

– A caller in the 600 block of East Main Street advised she and her dad heard noises out back and wanted an officer to check it out. Officers were unable to locate anyone in the area.

– A caller in the 200 block of Island Road advised of very loud music in the area that was keeping his kids awake. The subjects were advised of the complaint.

– A caller on Fairview Blvd. advised she saw a male possibly breaking into a shed across the street. Officers determined the garage was just left open, and the scene checked OK.

– A caller in the 200 block of West Mound Street reported a light across the street keeps blinking and waking him up. Officers advised they could not do anything about a blinking light.

– A caller in the 100 block of Fairview Blvd. reported someone ransacked their vehicles overnight and went through a shed. Information was obtained, and extra patrol was requested.

– A caller from Berger Hospital advised a male subject with an outstanding warrant was being released from the hospital, and she wanted him picked up again. The Sheriff’s Office advised the subject had been released the previous day from the jail and the charge against him had been taken care of.

– A caller in the 100 block of Fairview Blvd. advised someone broke into their garage through a window and property was lying on the ground in her yard. A report was taken on breaking and entering.

– A caller on Walnut Street advised a male subject climbed a fence, and they believed he broke into a garage at the corner of the alley. The homeowner advised the subject had permission to be there.

– A caller in the 200 block of Town Street reported someone removed all the wires from the outside phone box at the residence. The caller advised they would contact Frontier to have them look at the item.

– A caller advised she was promised a puppy at a residence in the 500 block of Gumm Place, but now the subject was refusing to give her the dog. Officers advised the money issue was a civil matter, but the caller did take custody of the dog.

– Officers responded to reports of a reckless driver on East Main Street at the city limits who reported was seen driving through yards and causing damage. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

– A caller advised a possibly intoxicated driver left Bob Evans on South Court Street. Officers were unable to locate the subject.

– A caller advised a vehicle was parked on a lot along Lancaster Pike and had music playing very loudly. Officers located the vehicle parked and unoccupied.

– Officers responded to reports of a suspicious person at Chase Bank on East Main Street. The scene checked OK.

– A caller advised four to five males arguing with each other in the street at Pickaway and Logan streets. The scene checked OK.

– A 911 caller reported 10 to 15 people appeared to be arguing in the street at Washington and Walnut streets. A report was taken on criminal damaging and disorderly conduct.

– A resident came to the police station to report animal abuse occurring at a residence on Atwater Avenue. A report was taken.

– A caller at the Pour House on North Court Street reported a male subject trying to start a fight with other patrons. The male left the bar and was advised of disorderly conduct.

– A caller in the 200 block of Logan Street reported a suspicious vehicle in the area. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

– A resident came to the police station requesting assistance removing the lid from a jar of peppers she could not open. The officer was able to remove the jar lid.

– Officers responded to an activated alarm at Rumpke on Island Road. The alarm company advised it was another false alarm, and the call was canceled.
