CIRCLEVILLE – A 16-year-old male will be charged with felonious assault in Pickaway County Juvenile Court today after allegedly stabbing his mother early Monday morning in Commercial Point.

The names of the suspect and the victim are being withheld pending notification of other family members, according to Detective Casey Thress, Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.

Thress said dispatchers received a call from the suspect about 3:05 a.m. Monday reporting the stabbing.

The victim, a 44-year-old female from Columbus, was transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment of three stab wounds, he said.

A switchblade knife that was reportedly used in the assault was recovered at the scene, Thress said.

The mother and son, both from Columbus, had been staying with friends at the East Scioto Street address for about a month when the incident occurred, Thress said.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
