Ronald R. Swank

Ronald Robert Swank, 61, of Kingston, passed away Monday, April 11, 2016, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Jan. 29, 1955, in Circleville, the son of Kenneth Robert and Mildred Louise (Walls) Swank.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Nicole Lynn “Nikki” Shelpman.

Ron was a 1973 graduate of Teays Valley High School and was a concrete finisher for Arledge Construction.

He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, having a big garden and working on his farm. He was outspoken, funny and the sweetest guy who would do anything for anybody. He especially loved being with his grandkids and was able to watch them hunt eggs on Easter Sunday.

Ron leaves behind his daughter, Amber (James) VanGundy; step-children, Brandy and Robert Flora; grandchildren, Carson, Connor, Emma, Laci, Bella and Benny; brother, Rick (Jessie) Swank; special friend of 28 years, Stacey Swank; brother- and sister-in-law, Walt and Denise Green; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Elliott officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 5 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Adena Cancer Center and Berger Hospice for the wonderful care given Ron.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
