Donna A. (Egger) Smith, 70, of Circleville, formerly of Ostrander, died Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

She was born Feb. 15, 1946, in Delaware, to the late Erdean (Sherman) and Donald Egger, and was preceded in death by her two sisters, Doreen and Denice Egger.

Donna had been a member of St. Mary Catholic Church while growing up in Delaware County, where she attended grade school at St. Mary’s. She was a member of the first graduating class of Buckeye Valley High School class of 1964 and graduate of Ohio State School of Cosmetology in 1965.

Her claim to fame was the year she won the “Junior Gardener of the Year” at the Ohio State Fair through 4-H.

She had moved to Circleville in October 1996 and retired from Anthem in 2012. She became a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church when she moved to Circleville and continued her dedication of the church and its RCIA team. Donna was always willing to lend a hand with whatever the church needed and was a part of the Decoration Committee, Altar Rosary Group, church office volunteer, Eucharistic minister of Holy Communion.

She had a passion for cross-stitching, crocheting, flower arranging, sewing alterations for family and friends, and a new and talented passion for quilting. She had won various awards for her work at the Circleville Pumpkin Show, including Best in Show. In this passion, she leaves behind many close friends with whom she spent hours quilting through laughter and prayer with the “Goodtime Quilters” in Circleville and the “Needlers” of Ostrander.

She is survived by two daughters, Melissa (Tom) Rankin of Sunbury and Erica (Matt) Marshall of Circleville; one son, Clay (Cristie Fulton) Smith of Columbus; nine grandchildren, Jeremia Gipson, Logan Gipson, Kari (Ryan) Gibbs, Tommy Rankin, Leone McGee, Samone McGee, Calvin Theller, Keaton Theller and Andrew Theller; and two great-granddaughters, Abby and Leah Gibbs. She is also survived by three sisters, Deanna (James) Fathbruckner, Debbi (Ronald) Hutchisson and Dorothy (Gilbert) Day; and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her longtime friend and travel companion, Roy Smith.

Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2016, at the Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. Winter St., Delaware, OH 43015. A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 134 W. Mound St. in Circleville with a luncheon to follow for the family and close friends. Father Theodore Machnick will be the celebrant.
