PICKAWAY – Today July 9, 2020 Gov. Dewine raised Pickaway County to a level 3/Red County, that means orders from Dewine mandate masks, one of our County Commissioners says thats not enforceable by Law Enforcement.

“This decision was made without input from any local agency & we were given 2 hours notice before it was announced publicly. To date, outside the state’s prison, we have had 200 positive cases (0.3% of our population) & 4 deaths (0.007% of our population). In announcing the cause for this change, the Governor stated that our average daily positive cases have increased from 1 per day to 4 per day. Pickaway County government has continued working and providing services uninterrupted since day one of this COVID-19 situation and we will continue to do so. This latest order is from the Ohio Department of Health and is enforceable only by the local Health Department, not local law enforcement,” said Pickaway county Commissioner Brian Stewart.

This is a similar stance as some law enforcement in Ohio that have aimed violations of the orders to the Health Department.

Stores in Pickaway County will order masks inside their establishment or face possible fines from the health department. Stores who have this requirement can tell you to put a mask on or leave their establishment.
