CIRCLEIVLLE – A local woman has teamed up with a local store in Circleville to give away free prom dresses with accessories to girls in need for prom.

The Ministry called Blessings Of Beauty started as a idea when Kimberly Polley graduated from Circleville High School in 2007.

“When I graduated from Circleville in 2007 and from OCU in 2008 and when I was in high school there were lots of people who couldn’t afford prom and had to miss out, and that was in 2007! Things are even more expensive now. Every girl should be able to feel beautiful, no matter Income, I want to help bless them,” said Polley.

Polley said she wanted to aim at this event because it was important to teen girls that may only have a prom opportunity once or twice in their lifetime and she felt it was important to make sure every girl shined on their special night.

“I think I wanted to aim at prom because there is so much pressure on prom as a student. Everything has to be perfect, you usually only get to go twice. This is the one where most people are getting limos and doing it up big time. Dresses can be as expensive as upwards of $600 then you have to add in jewelry/hair/makeup/nails/shoes. Easily one girl could spend $1,000 on one night and most families can’t afford that.”

The idea recently came into reality when Blessings Of Beauty teamed up with Nikki Turner and her store on West Main Street called Blessed Encounter Boutique.

Polly said that they have been posting for months asking for donations of formal dresses and so far we have over 60 dresses! All the dresses are at her store so that girls can feel like they are having a shopping experience and have dressing rooms to try gowns on. They also have had jewelry/accessories that have also been donated so girls can get the full effect.

Blessed Encounter Boutique has also allowed the ministry to place a giving tree in the store where people can donate a gift card to a restaurant, hair or manicures to local shops, so girls can get, “the full experience.”

“I just want to be able to love on the young ladies of our community and let them know that they are valued and they are important and that help is available. There is no need to be nervous or embarrassed. We would love to help as many girls as possible!

We give the option if they want to keep the dress they can or if they want to return it to us we can have it dry cleaned and keep going next year.

Blessed Encounter Boutique is located at 117 West Main Street in Circleville and they are currently taking in dresses, jewelry, or other prom related items for this event if you would like to donate.
