Hocking Sheriff Office Reports for Week of June 21, 2020

Hocking County Sheriff Lanny E. North reports:
June 21, 2020
Deputies responded to an East Fork Rd. residence for a complaint of indecent exposure involving a minor. The complainant pointed out a male when they arrived and told deputies that the person had walked into their yard and urinated exposing their self to a young child. When deputies made contact with the person, they refused the deputies command to stop. When deputies attempted to detain the person, they pulled away. Deputies were able to get the person under control and took Walter R. Harmer, 37, Laurelville into custody charging him with Public Indecency, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest. Harmer was transported to the SEORJ.


June 22, 2020
Deputies responded to a Keller Rd. residence for an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle complaint. The complainant told deputies that they had loaned their vehicle to a person, but they have failed to return the vehicle for several days and have not returned any calls. Charges for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle were forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office.

A SR 328 resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to file a forgery complaint. The case remains under investigation.

A Pleasant Valley Rd. resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report being mistreated by their spouse. The case was forwarded to the detective assigned to violence against woman and children.

A Lancaster resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to file a report of a broken vehicle window. The complainant told deputies that as they were driving on U.S. 33 their driver’s side window shattered.

Deputies responded to a Claylick Rd. residence for a breaking and entering complaint. The complainant told deputies that someone had entered a storage shed on the property and removed several items.
June 23, 2020
Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a Big Pine Rd. residence. Tessie L. Corne, 18, Laurelville was acting violent and breaking items in the residence. Corne told deputies that she had consumed alcohol and drugs. HCEMS responded and transported to HVCH. While at the Emergency Department, Corne was violent, damaged property and assaulted a deputy. Corne was transported to the SEORJ and charged with Assault on a Peace Office a Felony of the 4th degree.

Deputies responded to a Cantwell Cliffs Rd. residence for an assault complaint. The complainant told deputies that they had been assaulted by two people. Deputies took statements from several persons and forwarded the case file to the Prosecutor’s Office for review.

A Lauderback Rd. Buchtel resident told deputies that someone had changed their Social Security direct deposit into a fraudulent bank account. The complainant had contacted Social Security who was to issue another check to the victim.

Deputies received a missing person report for a Columbus, OH resident who may be in Hocking County. The complainant, from San Antonio, TX had received a text causing concern. Deputies began looking for the person and investigating. A short time later, deputies were notified that the person was found and safe.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Parkway Dr. for a registration violation. Deputies saw indicators and believed drugs may be in the vehicle. Permission to search the vehicle was refused by the driver. Deputies deployed K9 Dzeck to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle and Dzeck alerted on the vehicle that drugs were present. During a search deputies located a set of scales with a white power on them. The item was seized and will be sent to the BCI crime lab for analysis and possible future indictment.
June 25, 2020
Deputies responded to a complaint of a vehicle in the road on SR 664. When deputies arrived they found Keith G. Palacious, 39, Logan off the side of the roadway with a flat tire and damage from going into the ditch. Deputies immediately saw that Palacious was intoxicated. Palacious failed field sobriety testing and was arrested for OVI. Palacious was given a breath test with a result of 0.215 g/210L. Palacious was charged with OVI and Failure to Control.

Deputies responded to a SR 328 residence for a theft complaint. The complainant told deputies that when they checked their bank account, the found it significantly lower than they expected. Upon checking, the complainant found that an unauthorized purchase from Amazon had been made. The complainant contacted the bank and Amazon and was able to get the purchase stopped.

Deputies took a hit skip crash report at a business on Freeman Rd. The vehicle backed into another vehicle in the parking lot and left the scene. The case remains under investigation.

A Carbon Hill resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to file an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle report. The complainant told deputies that they had let their child borrow the vehicle, but they have failed to return it.

The protected party of a protection order came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a possible violation. After investigation, the report was forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for review.
June 28, 2020
Deputies responded to a Nickleplate Rd. residence after the resident reported that they believed someone was trying to gain entry to their residence. When deputies arrived they did not find anyone. The area was added to the patrol list.
June 27, 2020
Deputies responded to a possible drug overdose at Dogwood Crossing II. When deputies arrived the person was alert. HCEMS checked the person and found to be ok. Witnesses told deputies that drug use had been going on and deputies deployed K9 Tiger to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle. K9 Tiger indicated on the vehicle and a search produced a syringe. Robert D. Blankenship, 24, Racine admitted to deputies that the syringe was his and used to shoot up Suboxone. Blankenship was issued a criminal citation for Drug Abuse Instruments.

Deputies responded to a Keller Rd. residence for the theft of a license plate from a vehicle.

Deputies responded to a Taos Lane residence for a theft complaint. The complainant told deputies that 8 kittens have come up missing in the past two weeks.

Deputies responded to a Nooka Lane residence where the complainant told deputies that they believed that someone had been using their watercraft without permission. The complainant told deputies that they found the watercraft was low on fuel, was not running properly and appeared to have been towed recently.

Deputies responded to a Clay Lick Rd. residence for a theft complaint. The complainant told deputies that someone had entered the property and had stolen several items. Deputies collected evidence and forwarded the case to the detective bureau.
June 30, 2020
Deputies responded to a domestic violence complaint at the KOA campground on Patton Rd. The victim told deputies that her ex boyfriend, Angelo N. Jordan, 27, Columbus had found her at the campground and an argument and eventually and assault took place. Jordan fled before deputies arrived, but was located at the GoMart in Rockbridge. Jordan was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Violence, Assault and Aggravated Trespass and transported to the SEORJ.
