Despite Warnings Columbus Police Receive Hundreds of Reports of Gunfire on New Years

COLUMBUS – Despite warning of the danger of gunfire by Columbus Police, police receive hundreds of reports during New Years.

On December 30th several Franklin County police departments asked to celebrate responsibly.

“If we can prevent 1 person from firing 1 gun on New Year’s Eve that could save 1 life. Please celebrate responsibly.

Think about your family, your friends, your children before thinking about grabbing a gun,” Columbus Police Said on a facebook post.

In the past 24 hours Columbus Police through 911 calls, and new technology called Shotspotter police logged 341 notifications of actual gunshots. 

This morning Grove City Police arrested a man who fired 15 shots into the air just after midnight and was caught.
