LANCASTER – Arthur Dressing, 36, is now in custody after fleeing Lancaster-area law enforcement thanks to assistance from civilians.

The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office had attempted to serve Mr. Dressing with a drug-related warrant when he attempted to flee police. According to Major Crimes Unit Commander Dennis Lowe, Dressing jumped into a truck, and rammed two vehicles, resulting in heavy damage to one of the cars.

Mr. Dressing was being served with warrants for four felonies and one misdemeanor during the incident. During the chase, Dressing struck another vehicle and then fled on foot, into the area of Coonpath Road and Carroll Southern Road via a farm field. However, when he made his way into the area, multiple good samaritans detained him until law enforcement could arrive.

One eyewitness said, “We were sitting at the intersection of Coonpath and Election House and I saw him coming and could tell he wasn’t going to stop.”

Charges regarding the chase are still pending, and we will update this story as we obtain more information.
