WILLIAMSPORT, OH — The Village of Williamsport will take center stage in Central Ohio’s Independence Day celebrations next year as it hosts a large-scale Fourth of July event marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The same people who brought Circleville Fireworks at the Pickaway County fairgrounds last year are moving to Williamsport this year.

Branded under the theme “Forged in Freedom,” the celebration will be held July 4, 2026, at Ballard Park, and is being organized through a partnership between The Backwoods Boom, the Village of Williamsport, and the Williamsport America 250 Committee.

Backwoods Boom Organizers say the event will feature a full evening of patriotic, family-friendly activities, including local food vendors, community involvement, and special programming designed to highlight the nation’s 250 years of independence. The evening will culminate in a professionally produced fireworks display created specifically for the historic milestone.

With expanded collaboration, additional resources, and months of planning already underway, event leaders say the 2026 fireworks show is expected to be one of the largest and most impressive displays ever seen in Central Ohio, with the potential for record-breaking elements.

“This partnership allows us to take the celebration to an entirely new level,” organizers said. “By working together with the Williamsport America 250 Committee and village leaders, we’re creating an event that honors our nation’s history while bringing the community together in a big way.”

The event will be free and open to the public and is expected to draw visitors from across the region. Additional details and announcements about special features and activities are expected in the coming months as planning continues.
