CIRCLEVILLE TOWNSHIP, OH — A major traffic accident at a notorious US-23 intersection left six people injured Sunday afternoon, requiring a medical helicopter evacuation and mechanical extrication.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:14 PM on May 3, 2026, at the intersection of US-23 and the US-23 Access Road. According to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, the collision involved two vehicles with rollover.

The Investigation

Preliminary reports from Deputy Jarrid Daily indicate that a silver 2007 Hyundai Accent, driven by Matthew Kain Jarvis, 23, of Ashville, was traveling southbound on US-23. As Jarvis attempted to turn eastbound onto the Access Road, he failed to clear the intersection.

His vehicle was struck by a northbound 2023 Chevrolet Traverse driven by Stephanie M. Parson, 35, of Vanceburg, Kentucky. Parson’s vehicle, which was traveling at the posted speed limit of 55 mph, struck the Hyundai with enough force to cause disabling damage to both units.

Emergency Response and Extrication

First responders arrived within three minutes to find a complex scene. One occupant, identified as Christopher Kevin Jarvis, 22, was trapped inside the Hyundai and had to be freed by mechanical means (extrication) by rescue crews.

Due to the severity of the injuries:

  • Matthew Jarvis (Unit 1 Driver): Was airlifted by MedFlight to the Ohio State University (OSU) Wexner Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. He was cited by deputies for “Right of Way when Turning Left.”
  • Christopher Jarvis (Unit 1 Passenger): Was transported by ground to Grant Medical Center after being freed from the wreckage.
  • The Parson Family (Unit 2): Stephanie Parson and three minor passengers—aged 8, 13, and 14—were all transported by Clearcreek EMS to OhioHealth Berger Hospital with suspected minor to possible injuries.

Scene Clearance

The intersection remained restricted for over an hour as deputies investigated the crash and crews cleared the debris. The scene was officially declared clear at 3:35 PM.
