
CIRCLEVILLE, OH – A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Circleville on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 1:02 p.m., according to a crash report released on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.. The incident occurred at the intersection of South Court St. and Crites, approximately 25 yards north of the reference point.
A 2018 GMC Terrain, driven by a 23-year-old Madalyn Fausnaugh, was traveling south on South Court St. when it struck a pedestrian who was not using a crosswalk. The vehicle sustained minor damage, while the pedestrian, a 36-year-old April Wilbanks, who suffered suspected serious injuries and was transported to Grant Hospital by Pickaway Township EMS. The scene was cleared by 1:54 p.m. after a 52-minute investigation.
Further investigation, including a witness statement from the pedestrian dated June 11, 2025, revealed she had walked to the edge of South Court St., looked both ways, and attempted to run across the roadway in a no-crossing zone. Authorities determined the pedestrian’s action of running into the street contributed to the crash, placing fault on her. No charges were filed against the driver, who was not distracted or impaired, and no citations were issued.
The crash occurred under daylight and cloudy conditions on a dry, blacktop surface, with no traffic control present and a posted speed limit of 35 mph. The driver was reported as driving around the speed limit with heavy braking when the crash occurred.
