SALT CREEK TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A motorcyclist was airlifted to a Columbus hospital with suspected serious injuries Sunday morning following a two-vehicle collision at an intersection on State Route 56 East.

According to a crash report from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 10:11 a.m. on October 4, 2026, near the intersection of State Route 56 East and Jackson Road in Salt Creek Township.

Failure to Yield Causes Intersection Collision

Investigators report that Chad James Neokratis, 55, of Laurelville, was operating a 2020 Subaru Outback northbound when he failed to clear the intersection and pulled directly into the path of an oncoming motorcycle.

The motorcycle, a red 2026 Harley-Davidson traveling westbound at approximately 50 mph, was being operated by William Andrew Brubaker, 59, also of Laurelville. Brubaker was unable to avoid the collision and struck Neokratis’s vehicle.

Emergency Response and Air Medical Transport

Emergency personnel responded to the scene within minutes. Brubaker, who was wearing a DOT-compliant motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash, suffered suspected serious injuries and was transported via Air Evac to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for emergency treatment.

Neokratis, who was wearing a lap and shoulder belt, reported possible minor injuries. He was cited by Deputy Jarrid Daily for a right-of-way violation at a through highway (ORC 4511.43).

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene. Sheriff’s deputies noted that Brubaker was unable to provide proof of insurance at the scene and was requested to forward the documentation once available.

The roadway was fully cleared by 11:57 a.m.
