According to the latest CPD Daily Media Report released on Monday, June 22, 2026, officers handled nine distinct incidents over the course of Sunday, June 21, ranging from routine traffic accidents and trespassing to the late-night bomb scare.

Bomb Squad Called to River Trace Walmart

The most severe incident occurred late Sunday evening at the Walmart located at 85 River Trace. At approximately 8:14 PM, a caller contacted the Chillicothe Police Department making active, terroristic threats involving both firearms and explosives.

Officers immediately responded to the scene and notified Walmart management. Out of an abundance of caution, the entire store was evacuated of all staff and customers. The Franklin County Bomb Squad was called in to assist with sweeping the building. Police report that no suspects have been identified yet, and the investigation remains highly active.
