MADISON COUNTY, Ohio — Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized an estimated $6.3 million worth of cocaine during a traffic stop in Madison County, leading to felony drug charges against a man from Mexico.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the seizure occurred on January 23 at approximately 1:55 p.m. when troopers stopped a semi-trailer with Arizona registration on Interstate 70 near London for a commercial vehicle inspection. During the stop, troopers observed criminal indicators and requested assistance from a patrol drug-sniffing canine.

The canine alerted to the presence of narcotics, giving troopers probable cause to search the vehicle. During the search, troopers discovered 154 pounds of cocaine concealed inside cabinets within the semi-trailer.

The driver, identified as 46-year-old Omar Gonzalez-Flores of Ecatepec, Mexico, was taken into custody and transported to the Tri-County Regional Jail. He has been charged with possession of drugs, a first-degree felony.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol noted that drug interdiction efforts remain a priority across the state. In 2025 alone, troopers seized more than 1,600 pounds of cocaine on Ohio roadways.
