CHILLICOTHE, OH — July 13, 2025
A routine traffic stop in Chillicothe early Saturday morning led to the arrest of two individuals, including a juvenile with an outstanding warrant and an adult wanted for criminal trespass.
According to the Chillicothe Police Department, Officer Jonathan Davis initiated the traffic stop just after 1 a.m. after observing a light blue Chevy with no license plate illumination traveling southbound on Renick Avenue. The vehicle was stopped on Columbus Street.
Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Davis identified the driver as Benjamin Herron II, who provided an Ohio identification card but did not have a valid driver’s license. Two juveniles, later identified as a female and David Herron, were also in the vehicle.
A records check revealed that David Herron had an active juvenile warrant (Case No. 2022UNR0055) issued by the Ross County Juvenile Court for unruly behavior. Officer Davis took David into custody at the scene.
As no licensed drivers were present, Herron II contacted the vehicle’s owner, Kenneth Ault, who arrived shortly afterward with Benjamin Herron Sr. During the stop, officers discovered that Herron Sr. also had an outstanding warrant through the Ross County Sheriff’s Office for criminal trespass (Case No. CRB2201975). He was placed under arrest without incident.
Officer Davis issued Benjamin Herron II a citation for operating a vehicle without a license and for failure to properly illuminate the license plate. He is scheduled to appear in Chillicothe Municipal Court on July 18 at 9:00 a.m.
Kenneth Ault retrieved his vehicle and left the scene with Herron II and the Female. Officer Davis transported Herron Sr. to the Ross County Jail, while another officer took the juvenile to the Juvenile Detention Center.
Authorities confirmed all court dates and provided copies of the warrants to those arrested.
