Circleville, OH — On Monday, September 9, 2024, at 10:12 a.m., a student at Circleville City Schools experienced a medical emergency that authorities suspect was drug-related. The incident occurred in a girls’ bathroom, prompting an immediate response from school staff and law enforcement.
Upon arrival, officers found the student in a semi-conscious state, displaying symptoms such as slurred speech, heavy sweating, and apparent distress. The school nurse and responding officers worked to keep the student alert and engaged until Circleville Fire EMS arrived on the scene.
The student admitted to using a vape device, which was subsequently recovered and tested positive for THC, the active compound in cannabis. A second vape pen was also secured. Both devices were transported to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office for evidence processing.
The student’s parents were notified by school administration. At the time of the report, the student was receiving treatment at Ohio Health Berger ER and was anticipated to make a full recovery.
OPINION – I have a student at Circleville High School and when I spoke to him he told me that most of the students knew of this incident, but as a parent, I did not know much on this incident other than rumors that had been spread around social media. Secondly, teens are experimenting with the hard stuff including sex and drugs, I implore you to talk to your teen about the hard stuff before incidents like this happen.
