CIRCLEVILLE, OH — May 6, 2025 — Fire crews responded to a structure fire Tuesday evening at 914 South Court Street, where heavy smoke and visible flames were reported coming from a three-story home just after 6:30 p.m.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they found smoke billowing from the roof of the historic residence, which dates back to 1900. Circleville Fire Department quickly called for mutual aid from surrounding departments to help battle the blaze.

South Court Street was temporarily shut down in the area of the fire as crews launched Ladder One, the department’s new ladder truck, to attack the flames on the third floor.

According to Fire Chief Thompson, the fire began in the back left room of the house. While the structure sustained smoke, fire, and water damage, firefighters were able to contain the blaze swiftly and prevent the total loss of the home.
“Our quality firefighters were able to get to the fire quickly and get it knocked down, saving the home,” said Chief Thompson.
The family who resides in the home was displaced, but officials say they expect to salvage the property and make it livable again in the near future. No injuries were reported.
