Ross County, Ohio — July 28, 2025: A traffic stop on Rozelle Creek Road resulted in the arrest of a local man after deputies discovered suspected methamphetamine hidden inside a cigarette pack.
According to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 7:53 p.m. when Deputy Ariana Williamson, stationed at the Marathon gas station on Rozelle Creek Road, observed a man on a motorized scooter traveling at a high rate of speed. The rider, later identified as Jason Blesedell, was seen crossing the double yellow line and appeared to be attempting to pass a vehicle.
Deputy Brandon Stanley, also in the area, initiated a traffic stop after observing several traffic violations, including failure to signal a lane change and improper passing in a no-passing zone. As Blesedell turned onto a driveway near the intersection of Rozelle Creek and Mount Tabor roads, he continued riding behind a church before coming to a stop.
Deputies reported that Blesedell attempted to discard an object behind the church. Deputy Stanley stated that he witnessed the suspect throw something before being detained. A search of the area led to the discovery of a Marlboro cigarette pack containing a small clear bag with a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, along with cigarettes and a lighter.
Blesedell reportedly denied knowing anything about the object. He was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with officers, but continued to deny any involvement with the drugs. A search confirmed that Blesedell’s driver’s license was suspended for non-compliance.
He was arrested and transported to the Ross County Jail. Charges include tampering with evidence, driving under suspension, and marked lanes violations. Additional charges may be filed pending lab results from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).
The scooter was towed from the scene by ANS Towing.
