ROSS COUNTY, OH — May 6, 2025 — Voters in Ross County weighed in on a mix of local issues Tuesday, with decisions affecting schools, restaurants, and bars across the county.
The most closely watched issue was Zane Trace Local Schools’ renewal income tax levy, which passed by a narrow margin — 589 in favor to 518 against. The renewal funds approximately 10% of the district’s total budget and supports essential services, including the School Resource Officer program.
Despite the low voter turnout, Superintendent administrators expressed relief at the outcome, emphasizing the levy’s importance in maintaining current operations without introducing new taxes.
Meanwhile, a series of local liquor option votes gave six Chillicothe-area establishments the opportunity to seek Sunday alcohol sales. Of the six requests on the ballot, five passed:
- Jerry’s Pizza (Chillicothe 5-B): Passed with 83.87% of the vote
- The Postmark (Chillicothe 5-A): Passed with 80% approval
- Buffalo Wild Wings (Chillicothe 3-D): Passed with 65.79% approval
- AMVETS Post 4 (Chillicothe 4-B): Passed with 80% approval
- American Legion Post 62 (Chillicothe 4-B): Passed with 80% approval
The only establishment to see its request denied was Atomic Speedway in Huntington Township, where voters rejected the measure with 56.25% voting no.

The unofficial results were released Tuesday night by the Ross County Board of Elections and will be certified in the coming days.
